After all, the big state of Texas is known for its football and the Homecoming Dance caps the week of festivities off. At DPD we have compiled some tips to planning a successful Dallas/Fort Worth Homecoming Dance.

The Venue

If you haven’t taken care of the venue by now, please do so. It is the most important thing that you want to take care of. You cannot set the date, hire vendors or plan your budget if the venue hasn’t been selected.

The Entertainment

More often than not this aspect is greatly misunderstood by the budgeting committee. Some groups mistakenly use their budget on the venue, decor and food, and then not have enough money left for quality entertainment. This is a very crucial mistake made by committees as the choice of entertainment will determine the quality and success of the evening. If the DJ/Music entertainment was great, the students will say they had a GREAT time! If it is bad, they will consider the event a dud and may leave early. We’ve seen plenty of events where the food wasn’t the best but because the entertainment was awesome, it was considered a success. In our experience we have never seen poor entertainment with great food be considered a great time.

If you are tired of the same old boring DJs, be sure to request a meeting with the DJ services you are considering. There are MANY DJ services in the Metroplex claiming to know how to rock out your dance, but can they prove it? If they can, they will come to your school and audition in front of your committee. Almost anyone can buy a lot of lights, screens and speakers, but can they REALLY ROCK?

The Food

Usually the food is supplied by the venue. Most hotels and banquet halls have their own catering departments or a preferred list of vendors. Food is primarily restricted by the budget set forth. With homecoming dances we recommend serving appetizers instead of entrees. Add in a few desserts and you’re well on your way.

The Decor

Finances typically dictate your decor ambitions. If your budget allows you to create something extravagant, go for it. We recommend putting more of the razzle dazzle into lighting on a ROCKSTAR level! If your budget is more limited, try to figure out the key elements you would like and be sure not to exceed your amount.

Finances

This is by far the biggest factor when planning any event. After fund raising efforts, the major source of revenue for the Homecoming dance expenses is your ticket sales, that’s where DPD comes in:). We can assist you thru our various [dcs_popimg color=”#00ff00″
